Okay, so I took my sister’s braids down last weekend and she had it in for too long like 8 weeks (yikes, I know) but that’s not the point of this post hahah, I’ll judge my sister later.. So because she kept her single braids in for a while, she had some build up especially because she’s so active, (gym: which equals sweat) plus she oils/moisturizes her scalp every other day (which equals product build up) & a bunch of random lint from scarf etc. All of those factors into what I call Braid Gunk. You know the sticky build up you get after wearing braids or any protective style for too long? This:
Yeah, she had quite a bit of that. Well, instead of fighting through what seems like a losing battle by trying to finger detangle through that mess. I used Apple Cider Vinegar & water mixture as a detangler. Which made getting rid of that gunk a breeze!
Here are the simple items I used to make the ACV water detangler mixture:
Bragg ACV
Water
Spray Bottle
Table Spoon
I was so impressed at how much easier the process was using the ACV detangler that I actually recorded a whole vid, because you know, I just had to share the gem! Here it is below:
*Bonus* = The ACV basically cleaned her scalp like a shampoo would, so after we were done, we just deep conditioned using my homemade hair mask, here’s the link for that ===> DIY Deep Conditioner
Lemme know what you guys think below. Will you be trying the ACV & water mixture as a detangler? What do you typically do to get rid of your braid gunk?
Hey Guys.. I know, I know, its been a looooooooooooooong while. I have no excuses, life’s just been super hectic (in a great way)! Trying to organize everything I have going on is um.. challenging! But I’m proving to myself everyday that it can be done, so here I am.
I’ve been attending quite a number of events – networking, conferences, expos, meetups
& the most recent event I attended was a natural hair event ‘Its A Curl Thing’ organized and held at McDaniel College; actual organizers were Kylah Chadwick and Khadijah Poston. It was a really great, very well put together event & it was executed accordingly. I am so proud to say I was apart of this awesome program and to think these young ladies are juniors in college & can still manage to pull something like this off is amazing! When I was in college I could barely remember what room # my classes were (judge me not), talk less of organizing an event of this magnitude.
I was there as a vendor and met such wonderful people, both the McDaniel students & non-students and even the staff. Seriously, everyone in attendance was so welcoming & passionate about natural hair.
Here is a quick footage below

Let me know what you guys think of the review in the comment section below.
I honestly don’t know how I made it through this week but thank Gawwwwd its over!
We’ve just turned our clocks back by an hour for daylight savings.. or is it daylight spending? Is there even such a thing? Whatever its called, we sha have turned our clock back an hour, which is pretty much is indicative of the cold season approaching or that it’s already here ( Sorry I’m ridiculously confused today). I digress.. So anyway I thought I’d share with you guys some really good tips to help your hair thrive in these coming months. Check out the list below.
*16. Wear satin lined hats to keep from stripping hair of moisture
I have exciting news! OUR WEBSITE IS HERE!!!! YAYYYYYYYYYY

Also another update is that we’ve gotten some new colors in stock! To be honest my original plan was to make a post about each color as they came in but let me tell ya, procrastination is real! I think there should be like a mandatory class in college that teaches students how NOT to wait till last minute to do stuff & you have to take it every semester till senior year.. but that’s a conversation for another time. Anywho below are our new colors 🙂
I posted earlier about celebrities and their super bold brows so I figure I should blog about just how to achieve such; for anyone struggling with thinning eyebrows or just looking to grow them thicker.
I stopped getting my brows plucked/threaded so thin this past year (January 2016). I decided to grow it out & just let it do its thing. Let me tell y’all since I stopped getting them plucked, I’ve been saving money! I’m talking 10$-12 $ every 4 weeks type. (That might not be a lot to some but that’s 3 piece combo with a drink at popeyes!)
Mhmmm look at that beauty, yummmmm!
Okay so to help my brows along I started a regimen. Because while my brows are uber wide & thick, its also scattered at the ends so that tends to thin out and that’s where the help is needed for me. My regimen is real simple; applying Jamaican Caster Oil on my eyebrows nightly. I researched & found that not only does castor oil help grow the hair on your head but it is also applicable on other areas of your body; eyebrows being one of them. Below are the steps I’ve practiced for the past two months or so.
4 Simple Steps For Healthier Eyebrows
Wash your face wit soap
Towel dry enough to where your brows aren’t all the way dry but aren’t drenched either
Then put a drop/or two of castor oil on you index finger + gently rub onto desired area of growth on your eyebrows
In addition if you don’t sleep on satin sheets, then pull your bonnet/scarf to cover your eyebrows too. Because you may not realize this, but the cotton material (any other material not silk/satin) that your bed sheets and pillow cases are made of could potentially be causing your brows to thin out; similar to what cotton hats do to your hair (strips moisture, leaving it brittle dry + more susceptible to breakage) in this case it’ll make your eyebrows hard for it to grow.
Again, I naturally have thick brows, so I generally apply the castor oil at night before going to sleep. However, you can apply morning & night; whatever suits you. Like myself, you should start to notice growth within a week or two. You have to be patient because your eyebrows are going to go through that enviable awkward phase where it just looks weird because of the hair stubble growing out in that would’ve otherwise been waxed/threaded off. So just relax & keep on keeping on. You’ll eventually notice thicker fuller brows in no time. Take pics, Take a lot! I can’t stress that enough so you can actually see the difference + the growth. I would say take a pic of your brows weekly. Keep in mind that everyone’s brows grow at different speeds so be patient. I’m at month 4/5 (I think).
Below are my brow transformation. The 2nd & 3rd pictures are 2/3 months apart I think. I apologize ahead of time as my pictures were taken at the most random time possible, because well… I’m a very random person.
I see a major difference esp in such a short amount of time of 2 months! Now I have to be honest, I haven’t been as dedicated to this regimen after the month of march so I gotta get back!
What do you guys think? Are you gonna try this? Have you tried something similar & had awesome results on your eyebrows? Comment below!
