Now we all know the 90’s was super iconic! From the movies & TV shows to the music and of course the fashion! I personally love just how colorful & vibrant and yet so simple the 90’s were in terms of fashion. The hats were something serious too, celebs rocked kangols hats, bucket hats, beanies, Kofi hats and bandanas as hats & etc. Crazy thing is they made it all look so good!
This has nothing to do with hats but come on, would it really be a 90’s tribute without this iconic scene from House Party? Hmm? Hmm?
But seriously, the whole world can’t seem to get enough of the 90’s fashion & it’s evident in today’s constant tribute to the sensational decade, can’t say I blame though. Somebody send us a time machine already, puh-lease!
Hey Guys – Happy New week! (Yes, I’m aware it’s Tuesday, Monday is a trial run for me hahahah)!
Okay so, I was minding my business, per usual right? Scrolling through my timeline when BAM! This lady’s video hits me in the face. Dr. Debbie Williams – A hair professional claims that rice water grows your hair faster, thicker & healthier.. say whaaaaaat?! Now being Nigerian, I eat rice like everyday & I was taught to rinse out the rice water.. not put in my hair; so this particular process is very intriguing to me to say the least. It’s quite easy to do actually, you’re literally just soaking rice in water for a long period (hours or even overnight) then you rinse your hair with its water like you would regularlly.
Here’s the vid for more info & instructions:
So what do you guys think? Will you be trying the rice water rinse?
Its a snow day here – well, really not really.. Just some flurries, but it was enough to have the grocery stores swamped with long lines yesterday with people trying to “prep” for the snow; meanwhile all I wanted to buy was cookie dough. But, one thing for certain is that, it was cold then & it’s cold now! Like 19 degrees Fahrenheit to be exact; winter has surely arrived – Perfect timing to talk about Skatsz New ’17 Collection!!!! *Insert a yelp here*
Skatsz satin lined beanies are designed to help keep moisture in your hair & avoid dryness, frizz, breakage and other damages to the hair that’s caused by the cotton in regular beanies. All while keeping you warm & toasty too, yeah, you’re welcome 😛
So, the new collection has three styles of beanies with two colors each (yeeeep)! I’ve inserted hyper links in the names of each style so you can click on it to see what it looks like on the website.
Hey Guys.. I know, I know, its been a looooooooooooooong while. I have no excuses, life’s just been super hectic (in a great way)! Trying to organize everything I have going on is um.. challenging! But I’m proving to myself everyday that it can be done, so here I am.
I’ve been attending quite a number of events – networking, conferences, expos, meetups
& the most recent event I attended was a natural hair event ‘Its A Curl Thing’ organized and held at McDaniel College; actual organizers were Kylah Chadwick and Khadijah Poston. It was a really great, very well put together event & it was executed accordingly. I am so proud to say I was apart of this awesome program and to think these young ladies are juniors in college & can still manage to pull something like this off is amazing! When I was in college I could barely remember what room # my classes were (judge me not), talk less of organizing an event of this magnitude.
I was there as a vendor and met such wonderful people, both the McDaniel students & non-students and even the staff. Seriously, everyone in attendance was so welcoming & passionate about natural hair.
Tomorrow is thanksgiving so we decided to start our sale of Black Friday through Cyber Monday with 30%off the whole website. Its getting cold out so instead of wearing cotton hats that strips your hair of moisture thereby causing breakage & hair loss, purchase our satin/silk lined beanie that will not only keep you warm this winter but also help to keep your hair’s much needed moisture intact, amongst other benefits!
I have exciting news! OUR WEBSITE IS HERE!!!! YAYYYYYYYYYY
We’re are finally moving from amazon & ebay to our very own webby! I know quite a number of people have inquired about when our site will be up and running, & to the people that didn’t have an ebay account but created one just to complete their order with us; we love you hahah
So yeah, Its been a long time coming but you can now place your orders for your satin lined beanies at:
Also another update is that we’ve gotten some new colors in stock! To be honest my original plan was to make a post about each color as they came in but let me tell ya, procrastination is real! I think there should be like a mandatory class in college that teaches students how NOT to wait till last minute to do stuff & you have to take it every semester till senior year.. but that’s a conversation for another time. Anywho below are our new colors 🙂
Labor Day pretty much kicks off the unofficial start of Fall/Autumn season. Can you believe summer is pretty much over?! It feels like it was just yesterday we were putting away our winter clothes right? And now Daylight Savings will soon end altogether & the sun will start to set ridiculously early like 4pm, and by 5pm it becomes completely dark outside (crying right now). But I guess it’s not so bad, since people start to complain about summer after a while, how they’re tired of the heat, the bugs, being sun burnt blah blah… Meanwhile I love summer & wish it could stay for 9 months out the year & then have the fall type weather for the other 3 months. But hey I can dream can’t I? Anyway I think we all love fall for some of the same reasons; it signifies the end of year: which means the holidays: which means family & friends (thanksgiving & Xmas), the crisp air, the change in fashion, & the Halloween decorations amongst other things.
So in anticipating the arrival of fall, here are some of the season’s staple items: boots, sweaters, beanies, chunky cardigans, flannels, bomber jackets, hoodies, timberlands for all my New Yorkers (even though y’all wear them thangs religiously throughout the whole year hahaha). I’ve attached some pics below for your viewing pleasure. So cheers to season of the layer ups amongst other things!
So I figured I’d bless y’all with this beauty to start your week off on a good note.. You’re welcome!
The combo in the picture below is beyond aesthetically pleasing! From the Kente fabrics to her funky shades to the background to her shape to the damn pineapple! I’M SO IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING IN THIS PICTURE!
Black Girl Magic at its finest! #iampositiveblack
*I do not own this picture*
I literally starred at the pic for a good five minutes, what do you think about it?
I first heard about the term “man weave” like last year but I thought it was just dudes getting their toupees glued on, no big deal. But boy was I wrong!
Man Weave – the art of men adding hair to their barely there or just straight non-existent hairline and/or hair in general (my own definition)
Men are now doing sew ins, tracks, full on weave installation!! I’m talking spraying, gluing, cutting & pasting, corn rows/locs with extensions and EVERYTHING!
I guess some of these guys don’t want to keep being victimized by male pattern baldness, so they’re taking action! I can’t be mad at that. For me as long as you tell me like “Look babe, this ain’t all mines.. I may have added a little bit of that virgin Malaysian hair or some of that Kanekalon Marley hair color 1B extension to my own”(hahaha let me stop being facetious) but yeah I guess its okay? So long as he doesn’t just randomly yank his weave off one day without letting me know in advance that he was rocking extensions? I mean don’t just surprise me outta no where, let me know in advance! I’m talking 2nd date type notification, that way I can make my decision quick fast & in a hurry. Not on the first date because I want to at least enjoy my time & if there is a second date then that usually means there’s more than a physcial connection there.. I think.
I’ve taken the liberty of finding & attaching pictures of men rocking their extensions. Take a looksy.
So would you date a man that is part takes in the “man weave” movement? or is that a hell no?! Or you wouldn’t care about that minuscule detail because hey, love is love??
Guys – would you try this out? Do you know one of your boys that’s apart of this movement? Comment below
